Finding and Taking Care of Goggles and Caps
Home
Taking Care of Your Latex Cap
Latex caps stick together after they get water on the inside. To prevent that you rinse the inside with water (not pool water) and then dust the inside with baby powder or cornstarch after each use.
Taking Care of Your Rubber Goggle Straps
To help your rubber goggle straps last longer after each use rinse them off and dust them with baby powder or cornstarch.
FINDING THE RIGHT GOGGLES
Well chosen goggles will give you, clear and dry vision in the water, and allow for a more comfortable fit.
1. Eye Shape
Most goggles are designed to suit either round or oval shaped eye sockets. If the bones around the inner corner of your eye form a narrow angle, you have a more oval eye socket, while if the bones are fairly broad you may have a more round eye socket.
Use a mirror to determine whether you are better suited for a round socket or oval socket goggle style.
2. The Seal of Approval
Both oval and round goggle styles come with either foam gaskets or polyseal gasket material. Foam gaskets produce a pressure type seal that is maintained by the goggle strap. Polyseal gaskets produce a suction type of seal and fit inside the eye socket. Try both types to see what works best for you.
3. The Nose Knows
The final fit factor is the nose bridge. Some bridges are adjustable some are not. Ensure the nose bridge on your goggle selection suits your nose and distance between your eyes.
Fit
To see if the goggles will fit you right, press them on your eye sockets, lean over and if they seal properly they should stick for a few seconds without the strap on. If they fall off they’re probably not made for your face.
